In Dec. 1990, I graduated from Southwest Texas State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration. Upon completing my degree, we moved to Wylie, TX. I had taken a job with JC Penney's corporate office. At the time, Penney's was located in Dallas across from the Galeria Mall. Things were going well for us. However, I was longing to attend church and for my husband to go with me. I wanted him to be the spiritual leader of our home. Sundays would come and Alan would not want to go. The... More

Genesis 2:24 For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh. There is more to becoming one than intimacy. It did not take long into our marriage for Alan and I to discover this. This part of the puzzle came together for us before putting Christ first in our marriage. Alan and I were Christians when we married but we were choosing not to attend church, choosing not to pray together, and choosing not to spend time in God's word. We... More

Hello Church Family: What an incredible year we have had! 2012 was awesome, but the past 4-6 months have been an amazing ride and we have witnessed God do some extraordinary things through our church. Here is a snapshot of some ways that God worked: 1. Anna's House has increased the amount of families we are helping. At just a little over one year old, we are helping an average of 420 people each month. We are not just giving them handouts but our team is working with the families and... More

If you are a regular attendee of First Anna, then you are aware that over the past 6-8 weeks, the worship services seem…different. Some have said it’s the music, others say it’s the preaching, and still others have no clue what is going on but have said it is indeed different. Let me share with you what the difference is- following the Holy Spirit’s leading. And what happens when we follow His leading: 1.Worship is different. Why is worship different when it is... More
WedWednesdayNovNovember21st2012 Are Women to be Silent in Church?
byZach Williams Tagged No tags 0 comments Add comment
Are women to be silent in church? It has long been held that women are to be silent in church. This teaching actually comes from the Bible- 1 Corinthians 14:34-35- Women should be silent during the church meetings. It is not proper for them to speak. They should be submissive, just as the law says. If they have any questions, they should ask their husbands at home, for it is improper for women to speak in church meetings. Simple, right? According to the Bible, women should not speak in church.... More

Healing A few weeks ago, I preached a sermon on healing and it has impacted not only me, but many of the people attending First Anna as well. Healing is something that many people don’t really talk about or if they do, it’s in hushed tones because it is one of the more charismatic beliefs. But is it really? God heals in many ways- some through miraculous way, in other ways- He uses doctors and medicine but what is so wrong about healing or speaking about it? As Baptists, we just... More
    WedWednesdayOctOctober24th2012 Desire of Our Heart
byLori Garza Tagged No tags 0 comments Add comment
Does God really give us our heart’s desires? I have heard all of my life, ask and you shall receive. God hears your prayers. He knows and wants us to have what our heart desires. But I found myself questioning this almost on a daily basis. If God really wanted this for me then why is so much of my life not as my heart desires. Why would I have so much heartache? I could make a list of a million things in my life that were definitely not my heart’s desire. The biggest one for a very... More

Economic instability. Political elections. Finance problems. Marriage issues. Children going astray. Job worries. There are a lot of issues facing each of us daily. The pressures to provide for our family financially, raise our children in a way that prepares them for the world while honoring God, to have a marriage that blesses God, and to have the proper outlook on our jobs instead of complaining about what we do, add up. Too often we settle into the routine of life and all that it brings. We... More
